Her father is an Argentine who is of Scottish and English heritage. The mother of her is Spanish-English. Taylor-Joy, who is youngest of five children. Four were born to Taylor's father's previous marriage. The family was originally from Buenos Aires, but moved to Victoria when she was six years old. Taylor Joy stated that moving from Buenos Aires to Victoria was a struggle as she was unable to study English and was hoping to go back to Argentina. She had to switch schools between Northlands in order to attend Hill House. After that, she attended Queen's Gate School and studied ballet, while also performing in school's plays. She dropped out of high school at 16 in order to concentrate on her acting profession. The dream of Taylor-Joy to become a professional actress started at a young age.
